Australia’s world class Super W women’s rugby XVs competition kicks off on 4 March in the lead up to International Women’s Day on 8 March.
For the first time, a Fijian team joins the Super W. With the support of the Australian Government’s PacificAusSports program, the Fijiana Drua will add a dynamic new element to the competition, and sees it’s expansion into the Pacific region along with men’s Super Rugby Pacific.
Check out the video below to hear from the Fijiana Drua about what it means to them to be in the competition:
Joining the Super W is yet another milestone for the Fijian women in what has been an exciting journey over recent years, including their stunning bronze medal performance in the Rugby 7s at the Tokyo Olympics.
As a new team in the competition, the Fijiana Drua are a bit of an unknown, and it will be a great test for them and all the women involved in Super W this season. And what a great opportunity for all the elite level women to hone their skills in the lead up to the Women’s Rugby World Cup set to kick off in New Zealand in October.
Welcome Fijiana Drua! And all the best to all the teams competing in Super W 2022!
